Fish Costa Rica year round with Americana Sportfishing, the most respected name in Costa Rica fishing for over 20 years. Costa Rica offers the best all-round fishing in Central America. Both the weather and the available species – marlin, sailfish, tuna, dorado, wahoo, roosters, snapper, tarpon and snook, to name a few – off both the Pacific and Caribbean coasts give anglers world-class fishing throughout the year. In other words, the best time for fishing in Costa Rica is now.
The Costa Rica fishing season encompasses 365 days a year. But there are high points. For instance, sailfish hit their peak from December through March off the Central Pacific Coast (and a bit earlier – from mid-November – off the South Pacific); and at the same time there is a great marlin bite off Guanamar/Carrillo to the north. Huge yellowfin tuna inhabit the Central and North Pacific from June through November; tarpon flock to the Caribbean coast from June through January.
Above is a panorama of the most frequent fish you can expect to encounter in Costa Rica. Click on any of the species, and you will see where to catch the gamefish you’re after and the best times you can do so.
